Taylor Made Tutorials...Twisted Easel Card

Hello again!

Guess what?...Sunday is now officially tutorial day and this one is brill (even if I do say so myself)!

I've been pretty busy this weekend trying out some new techniques, I happened to stumble across a template for a twisted easel card on Pinterest and just had to give it a go!

First things first...What will you need?
1. 5"x10" kraft card
2. 2x 5"x5" coloured card stock (I used dark purple, but feel free to use whatever you prefer)
3. 3x large punched butterflies
4. 9x smaller punched butterflies


Step 1.
This is the basic template that I used, you cut down the block lines and score down the dashed ones.

Which should leave you with something that looks like this...

Step 2
Next you want to start adding colour to your base. I chose purple card stock, but feel free to use whatever colour you like. First you need to cut a 5"x5" of your chosen colour, which you then need to glue to what will be the base of the card (the bit that hasn't been scored)

Step 3
Here we are starting to build up the design, You need to cut another 5"x5" of card stock, I chose to use a slightly lighter shade of purple, but once again you can use whatever colour you prefer, You then need to cut this in half diagonally so that it fits over what will be the front of the card. I stamped a vine design onto my card in white ink using Card-io Majestix Branching Out Stamps (for those of you familiar with my designs you will notice that I use these stamps a lot because they look amazing and I love them!), this has then been heat embossed with clear powder to give it a nice glossy finish.

Step 4
Now comes the really fun bit, you need to start building up the design on the front. I chose to use butterflies. I started by punching out 3 large butterflies, I only have a really small butterfly punch, so I folded some card in half and used my larger heart punches to create the butterflies (super handy tip if like me you can't afford to keep buying punches).

I wanted to add height to the design, so I glued the butterflies along the fold of the card.

Step 5
Now time to add a greeting, this needs to be placed on the base of the card. It is also going to hold the front of the card in place when it is stood up, so needs to be slightly raised. I went for a happy birthday sentiment stamp, which I heat embossed with holographic sparkle powder. I used 3D foam pads to raise it up off the base of the card. To finish off I embellished with some white opal liquid pearl and some pink gems. 

Pretty simple all in all!
